Platform 2012

So did you come to Platform?

I spent a lovely 2 weeks in August and September manning Platform 2012, held at the fishing quarter gallery in the fishing quarter on Brighton's seafront.

Take a look at their website for more details on this very special area of Brighton's seafront http://www.brightonfishingmuseum.org.uk/ I have to admit I didn't really know much about this area before now.

Craftaganza

This time Craftaganza was a 2 day affair hosted again at the beautiful Fabrica.

I shared a table with Miss Craftaganza herself aka So Zo. 

I’m yet to man a whole stall, and at the moment  I’m  pretty sure I don’t want to.  It’s much more fun having company and when you are as inadequate of a sales person as me it helps to have someone there to do it on your behalf! Both Zoe and her lovely fiancé are demons at engaging customers and unleashing the sales banter. I still struggle to say Hello; I find that too pushy sometimes!

Web building

Right I'm trying to cobble together a website for my Jewellry. I've not done too badly so far, please take a gander www.kirstinstride.com
The shop page links to my supa dupa site at the moment. I'm putting off building my shop pages as I know how much swearing and frustration will be involved with making them!

My first fair for some while

SO Craftaganza was my first time behind a stall at a craft for for a few years. It was a gentle introduction as I was sharing with two other ladies and we had a little bottle of sloe gin for courage!

I haven't got a great deal of stock at the moment so had it all out on display, all 15 pieces, nestled between saffron and Seiko's amazing work.
I sold two items and I have to be honest and tell you it wasn't me that made the sales, Saffron kindly took over for me. It seems I'm much more comfortable selling other people's work than my own! I'm sure most creative people can relate to that.

Thought I should start one of these Blog thingys to promote my work and such like.


Tomorrow I'm off to Craftaganza's Spring fair, it's at the beautiful Fabrica gallery in Brighton.
Doors open at 10.30, I have to be there a bit earlier as I'm providing the soundtrack to the day.
I hope people don't take offence to my music taste, I've cut down on the angry hip hop and whitesnake that pops up on shuffle in inappropriate times.
